    Trevor Ratcliffe

    Trevor Ratcliffe has been a competing javelin thrower for 50 years, and a coach for 10 years. Competing achievements include various medals at World and European Masters championships.
    Ranked 3rd on the uk all time list for V60 and 5th in the world rankings in 2025.
    Coaches squads at both Dacorum AC and Watford AC with athletes achieving top 10 rankings on the power of 10 over the past year.

  • Mark  Bradford

    Mark Bradford

    Mark is a UKA certified Athletics Coach with nearly 20 years of experience in coaching Throws, primarily Javelin. He is the personal coach to two GB & NI athletes and has mentored multiple national, regional, and school champions. Mark has been a member of the England NCDP (National Coach Development Programme) and previously served as the EA Regional Coach Lead for Throws in Southwest England. Currently, he is an EA Coach Education Developer for the region, delivering highly acclaimed workshops and webinars.

    Mark has coached athletes to perform at both national and international levels and has held Team Coach and Team Manager roles for England and Wales at international competitions. Additionally, he is a BWL (British Weightlifting) accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach specialising in Olympic Lifting. Mark collaborates openly with Sports Performance specialists to provide practical coaching solutions, helping athletes and coaches realise their full potential

    Mark holds enhanced DBS clearance and is UKA certified in First Aid, Safeguarding, and Clean Athletics.

  • Tom Dobbing

    Tom Dobbing

    Tom Dobbing is a former international javelin thrower and experienced coach with UKA coaching qualifications obtained in 2006 and an MSc in Applied Sports and Exercise Science earned in 2012. He has held numerous coaching roles including Team Coach for Great Britain and England at various international competitions, leadership roles within England Athletics, and management and coaching positions with the UK Armed Forces. The athletes he currently coaches have won medals at major international Age Group Championships, National senior and age group championships.

    Currently, he leads the England talent and pathway programs for javelin and contributes to the UKA Futures program. His athletic career spanned representation for GB U20 from 1990-1992 and Scotland from 1999-2006 before retiring from competition in 2008.

    Mike McNeill

    Mike is former UK and England National Event Lead and UKA/England Team Coach at Championships around the world. He has been developing throwers to international level for over 40 years. He is a former teacher that still enjoys coaching at all levels. Mike has been a consultant and mentor to Scottish Athletics for many years and travelling around the UK supporting javelin groups.is a passion for him. He instigated and led the East of England Javelin Workshop in 2024 as a proud Suffolk man being delighted with the number and passion of athletes, coaches and parents alike. Its success led to the expansion across England this year.

  • Simon (Sy) Forster

    Simon (Sy) Forster

    Simon is a former National Junior Champion and record holder in Javelin. He competed from 1992–1998 before retiring in 2000 after an injury. He has been a UKA-certified Athletics Coach for over a decade, helped many athletes up to national and international level, and is currently a personal coach to two GB Athletes in Javelin and Shot. He has been an England Team Javelin Coach and worked with several athletes on the Youth Talent Program.
    Currently, Simon is the Chairman and Head Throws coach at Leigh Harriers Athletics Club, L2 Field Official. holds enhanced DBS clearance, and is UKA certified in First Aid, Safeguarding, and Clean Athletics.

    Bronwin Carter

    Bronwin is a highly experienced Throws Performance Coach, recognised as the England Athletics National Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2007. As a former coach member of the EA NCDP, Bronwin’s coaching achievements are a testament to her unique coaching ability. She has coached and supported eight athletes to achieve international honours in Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus, including a para-European age-best record holder. Bronwin is also an ex-International Weightlifter with an impressive string of titles: 13 times World Champion and 10 times European Champion. A a former athlete, and Hampshire Champion in javelin, shot, and discus.

    Bob Willows

    Bob is a UKA certified Athletics Coach with 20 years of experience coaching athletes of all abilities. Specialising in javelin, Bob also coaches other throwing events. As a former National League thrower for Brighton and Hove and a coach member of the EA NCDP, Bob brings a wealth of experience to his coaching. Bob has mentored athletes to achieve national and international success, including two European age group championships and coaching the British Girls U13 record holder. His athletes hold eight Sussex records and have won multiple medals at Nationals, English Schools’ Championships, and SIAB. Bob’s coaching philosophy is inclusive: anyone interested in javelin is welcome, whether they aim for greatness or simply want to enjoy the sport.

    Simon De Wilton

    Simon is a UKA Level 3 javelin coach with Taunton Athletics Club in Somerset. Since the early 1990s, Simon has coached numerous throwers who have achieved significant success, including winning regional and national schools’ championships. Additionally, Simon’s athletes have competed in home internationals and world youth championships. He is passionate about the javelin throw and helping young athletes develop to realise their athletic potential.
